He tends to write things so that they best benefit him (see: Roommate Agreement), when things don't go his way he had a way of manipulating them so that they do, and he seeks to elevate his position over others whenever he can. I know not all Slytherins are like that, but I've always seen him as more of a Slytherin than Ravenclaw.
